About us
Hi, I’m James and welcome to my mobile and virtual record store ‘Travelling the Groove Records’. I have always dreamt of owning my own record store and this is the first very exciting step to fulfilling that dream. Feel free to pop in any time and flick through the virtual racks of great vinyl, everything you need to bring your love of music to life or to introduce someone to the joys of vinyl listening.
Alternatively, you can find me at our permanent stall on Stamford Market (Lincolnshire) on Fridays, plus we also visit the markets in Grantham, Melton Mowbray and Ruddington. It is best to watch our social media channels for confirmation of what days we are attending. If you would like us to bring along a particular record, just drop me a line.
Like so many people I was introduced to music at a young age, spending every Sunday evening from 4-7pm lying in front of one speaker (I wasn’t aware of the joys of stereo then) listening to the top 40 singles chart, before spending my teenage years trying to make a mix tape by pressing record on the tape machine, before the song started and after the presenter had stopped talking, no playlists in those days (am I showing my age yet).
I have travelled to many different countries, DJ’d through my twenties (on vinyl of course, man that box was heavy), before returning home to my own vinyl collection and settling down. I love many different types of music from Heavy metal to Drum and Bass and techno, Latin and Jazz to classical, if it catches my ear, I’ll give it a listen. I don’t profess to know all there is to know about music, but I love to learn as I go.
