Released in 1986, The Queen is Dead is The Smiths third studio album and featured the singles 'The Boy with the thorn in his side', 'Bigmouth strikes again' and ' There is a light that never goes out'.
Considered by many to be The Smiths finest album, it spent 22 weeks on the UK album chart reaching reaching the #2 spot. The album was produced by the band's singer, Morrissey, and their guitarist, Johnny Marr, who also wrote several of the songs whislt on tour, working predominantly with engineer Stephen Street who engineered the Smiths' previous album, Meat Is Murder.
